Around the World Tour

Тема урока: Путешествие. Примечательности Лондона.

Цели урока:

  1. Обучающая – развитие навыков чтения и монологической речи.

  2. Воспитательная – воспитать толерантность к иностранной культуре.

  3. Образовательная – ознакомить учащихся с возможностями компьютерных программ в самообразовании.

  4. Развивающая – развить способность к межкультурному взаимодействию.

Оборудование: компьютерный класс, проектор, раздаточный материал, карта, картинки и другое.

Aim: Discover new places.


  1. Review our luggage.

  2. Exchange information about ways of traveling.

  3. Choose the best place to visit.

  4. Do sightseeing.

  5. Send postcards to parents.

Ход урока.

  1. Teacher: Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to our Around the world Tour. How are you today? Today we’ll discover new places of interest and find the best ones. Our lesson consists of 5 steps.

1.Фонетическая зарядка:

Teacher: First let’s review our luggage. We know a lot of words from unit traveling. Look at the blackboard. You see phonetic sounds. Let’s revise the revise the words from our topic with these sounds.

[v] – adventure, ever, never, various

[t] – statue, sight, monument, Tussaud’s

[b] – bright, be born, bridge

[ai] – sight, tired, scientist

2. Речевая зарядка (работа по цепочке)

Teacher: Let's find out the best way of traveling. We work in a chain and ask

each other the question: «What way of traveling do you prefer? » (учащиеся смотрят на карточку и составляют примерные диалоги):

-I prefer traveling by plain. It's the fastest and the most comfortable one. And


-I prefer traveling by train. You can enjoy wonderful nature and it's not so

expensive as a plane.

-I like to travel by car. It's interesting too because you can see many things in a

short time and you don't take tickets. And you?

  • I like hiking. We take our rucksacks, we don't hurry up and walk a lot.
    -I hate stuffy buses and trains, why not ride a bike?

  • Oh, yes. It's cheap, quick and healthy. But it needs, of course, a lot of energy.

Teacher.: Well thank you my dear. I see you love all possible ways of traveling and it's quite true - each one is wonderful in its own way.

3. Работа с аудитивным текстом..

Teacher: In the travel agency we can choose different countries to visit. What are they? Let's listen and find these places on the map. PI: Good morning. I can give you some information about holidays this year. These are travel leaflets and you'll find lots of culture, pyramids and sphinx if you can visit Egypt. The people will easily understand your English there.

P2: If you enjoy old churches, beautiful buildings, sculpture and painting - go to Italy then. Don't forget it's very hot there in summer. PI: If you prefer enjoying cool weather and rich green landscapes - then go to Sweden and Norway and see wonderful fiords there.

P2: And if you want to admire the well known sculpture of Little Mermaid visit

Copenhagen in Denmark. In all these countries people speak English very well.

PI: But of course if you want to enjoy wonderful nature and see a lot of

important historic places go to the U.K.

Teacher: What countries did the girls tell you about?

Show them on the map (учащиеся показывают Египет, страны Скандинавии, Британию).

Where would you like to go? Let's go to the U.K. Its capital is London - the centre of tourism. Look at the map. We are arriving to Britain. This is London.

Today we'll visit some places in London. They are Madam Tussaud's Museum, MOMI (Museum of the Moving Image) and famous London parks: Hyde Park, Regent's Park and St. James's Park.
4. Работа с интернет-программами

Учащиеся читают тексты экспозиций и выполняют тесты.

  1. Madame Tussaud’s is one of the sights of London. It’s the famous waxworks museum, which has one of the largest collections of wax models in the world. Here you can meet the famous, of course, and the infamous: it’ s unforgettable experience. You can meet great characters of history and art. Here actors, film stars, pop-singers and sportsmen come face to face with famous politicians. There is a special place for the Queen’s family: the Queen, her husband, their children and other members of the Royal family.

  2. Everyone enjoys their visit to MOMI. In MOMI the history and magic of cinema and TV is explained. There are hundreds of clips from films and TV-programmes. Visitors take an active part. You can act in a Hollywood Western, select a film to watch, or even draw your own cartoon film.

During your visit you can also meet characters from the past. Visitors can ask questions about the time in history from which the characters come. It’s both interesting and useful.

  1. Londoners love their parks and are proud of them. London is very rich in parks and

gardens. You can spend the whole day in the country without leaving London. London parks are full of trees, grass, flowers and water. You can walk among old trees, relax and admire flowers and plants or take in the many sports activities such at tennis, swimming and horse riding.

  1. The Royal Parks are the property of the Royal Family. In central London they include

Hyde Park, Green Park, St. James’s Park, Regent’s Park and Kensington gardens. Hyde Park is famous for its outdoor entertainment and its Speaker’s Corner. On Sunday morning anyone can make a speech about something they believe to be very important. You can also visit Regent’s Park where you will find London Zoo, a boating lake and an open-air theatre, where in summer you can enjoy Shakespeare’s plays.

St. James’s Park, the oldest London park, is very beautiful with its trees and flower beds and view of Buckingham palace. The statue of the famous fairy-tale hero, Peter Pan.

Teacher: At the end of our lessons we’ll send postcards to our parents in Russia Take the postcards and fill in the missing words. They are the names of places of interest in London and tour names.

(Учащиеся получают готовые открытки с пропущенными словами – названиями достопримечательностей)

Teacher: Read your postcards. Give them to your parents.
