Открытый урок английского языка в 10 классе

по теме “Welcome to Kolomna. The Local Man-made Wonders”

( УМК Биболетовой М.З. "Enjoy English ")

Форма: защита проекта
Цели урока:

1.Образовательные: обобщение и закрепление материала по теме “Man-made wonders of the world”

2. Развивающие:

- развитие произносительных и лексических умений и навыков;

- развитие умений спонтанного говорения;

- развитие умений проведения презентаций;

- развитие творческой и познавательной активности.

3. Воспитательные:

- развитие общего культурного кругозора;

- воспитание качеств патриота, гражданина;

- воспитание любви к родному краю, к прекрасному.


Оборудование: проекты учащихся, музыкальное оформление, выставка книг «Отчизны милый уголок», мультимедийный проектор, раздаточный дидактический материал для рефлексии.
Ход урока:

1. Орг. момент. (Т - СL), звучит музыка.

T: Hello, dear friends, hello our guests. I am glad to see you. Let’s start our English lesson. The theme of our lesson is “Welcome to Kolomna. The Local Man-made Wonders”. Today we’ll get acquainted with Barbara Claydon. She is from New York. Barbara will visit our school. We’ll show her our native city and our beautiful architectural wonders. Also we must decide which of them can truly be called “A Wonder of the World”.
2. Phonetic work. T: Let’s repeat words and phrases that we now need for our discussion:

a native town; a local wonder; a historical monument; an architectural monument; unique; ancient; construction, sights, technologies, spiritual, unpretentious, astonishing (T- Cl; T-P1P2P3)


3. Conversation Practice (Р1–P2–P3)

1) The dialogue “On the airplane” (слайд «На борту самолета»)

(доносится звук самолёта, появляется стюардесса и два пассажира).

Stewardess: Hello! May I see your ticket, please?

Vlad: Hello! Here it is.

Stewardess: Thank you. Your seat is 22A. It’s on the right in the non-smoking section. Welcome aboard!

Vlad: Thank you. Excuse me. Is this seat 22A? (Обращается к пассажирке)

Barbara: Yes, I think so.

Vlad: I’m afraid you are sitting in my seat.

Barbara: Oh, I’m sorry! You are right, my ticket is for seat 22B.

Vlad: That’s Okay.

Barbara: My name is Barbara Claydon. What’s your name?

Vlad: My name is Vladislav Phedosov. Please call me Vlad.

Barbara: It’s nice to meet you. Where are you from, Vlad?

Vlad: I’m from Moscow region. Where are you from?

Barbara: I’m from New York. I’m going in Moscow region on vacation. I’ll visit my friends there. They live in Kolomna.

Vlad: Great! Kolomna is my native town. Have you ever been in Kolomna?

Barbara: No, this will be my first time in this town.

Vlad: You’ll have a great time. I’ll show you our beautiful historical monuments and of course, my native school.

Barbara: All right! You speak English very well.

Vlad: Thank you.

2) The dialogue “In Moscow Airport” (слайд «В аэропорту»)

Stewardess: Ladies and gentlemen! We are in Moscow. Have a good time in Moscow!

Barbara: I enjoyed sitting with you, Vlad.

Vlad: Me, too. It was fun. Thank you for teaching me American English. I hope, I’ll see you again in my town. We’ll speak about our wonderful historical monuments, our local wonders. Would you like to come with me?

Barbara: Yes, I’d love too.

3) Conversation Practice (Р1–P2–P3)



The dialogue: “Our school”( слайд «School»)

Vlad: This is my school. My first class is English. We study English all year. Let me introduce you to my classmates and my teacher.

Barbara: That’s great.

Vlad: (обращается к учителю и учащимся) Hello! This is Barbara Claydon. Barbara is from New York.

T: How do you do, Barbara

Barbara: How do you do. Nice to meet you.

Cl: Nice to meet you, too.

Teacher: Sit down, Barbara. Nice to meet you. Do you speak Russian?

Barbara: Yes, a little

Teacher: All right. Dear friends, let’s go on the lesson.


4. Warming-up.

T: At the previous lesson we talked of some wonders of the World. However, without doubt every corner of the World can proud of its natural beauties and local man-made wonders as well. Our native town is not an exception. Kolomna is beautiful, isn’t it?

CL: Yes, of course. This town is really beautiful.

T: Kolomna is a unique place of Moscow region! There are many wonderful historical monuments there. Let’s check how well do you know Kolomna. Please match pictures of sights and the names.

5. Presentation of students’projects.

T: OK. Well done. It’s time to fulfill the main part of the lesson. Among the varieties places of interest you were to choose those ones which are the most interesting, astonishing and important in your opinion. Working in group you have prepared a presentation about man-made wonders of our town. After listening, please, express your opinion and choose the best architectural monument in Kolomna.

I want to remind: in your projects you should give information on some main points: where the object is located, when it was built, why and how important it is for our town and people. Besides, you can give some extra information.

Now your attention to the students’ projects.


6. Discussion.

T: Thank you for your work. Now let’s discuss. Whose project is the best? Which of the objects is really a man-made wonder?

Before discussing I offer to revise some expressions to speech organization. (слайд)

Т: (обращается к Барбаре) Barbara, do you get any information about our native town?

Kolomna is a wonderful town, isn’t it?

Barbara: Of course, it is a splendid town. There are many beautiful places and historical monuments. Kolomna Kremlin is really unique. Yet, I vote for all its architectural monuments.
7. In conclusion of our talking I’d like you to say your opinion about some proverbs. How do they connect to our topic?

Please read these proverbs and translate them. (P1,P2,P3 – CL)

East or West Home is best”;

A man’s home is his castle”;

There is no place like home”;

Art is long, life is short”;

T: What can you say about these proverbs? How do you understand them?

P1: It is true that there is no place like home.

P2: For every person the most precious place is where he was born. My home town is Kolomna . I love my town. Without a doubt, that “A man’s home is his castle”
T.: Now I’d like to say that our town is worth visiting and reading about as well. There are a lot of books about Kolomna, its people and sights, its past and present. Some of the books you can find in our school library. Now they are represented at the exhibition.
And we want to give our guests small calendars with views of our native town.
